  15. Baltimore. In 1927 he demonstrated that a "biological clock"
  16. governs the eating, drinking, sleeping and sexual behavior of
  17. animals. Richter's studies of the body's biorhythms led to the
  18. understanding of such afflictions as sleeplessness, jet lag and
  19. stress reactions.
